 |
| Dr Sean Kingsley is an archaeologist and historian with over 15 years’ experience exploring ancient ruins. From the earthquake-hit shores of post-communist Montenegro to the remote Roman villages of the Carmel in Israel, he has directed archaeological projects and brought to light exciting stories of antiquity. An internationally renowned marine archaeologist, he discovered the largest concentration of ancient shipwrecks in the eastern Mediterranean off Israel and helped negotiate rights (from the UK’s Ministry of Defence) for a US company to excavate a seventeenth-century English warship off Gibraltar containing an estimated $4 billion of coins, the richest ‘treasure ship’ in history. |

As Managing Editor of Minerva, the International Review of Ancient Art and Archaeology, for the last six years he has dedicated his time to bringing the past to a modern audience and to popularising antiquity. He writes for various popular papers and magazines. This is his sixth book. |
